29 Jan 2023: Saraswati Puja/Basant Panchmi 2023 Date: A grand idol of Goddess Saraswati is kept at Tala Prattoy in Kolkata to celebrate Saraswati Puja on January 26.
Basant Panchami, popularly known as Vasant Panchami or Saraswati Puja is a Hindu festival that marks the arrival of the spring season. This year, the festival of Basant Panchami falls on Republic Day i.e., January 26, 2023.

In almost all the households of West Bengal, Saraswati Pooja is celebrated with immense devotion. However, Kolkata, the cultural capital of India for long, celebrates this festival with the greatest enthusiasm. Temporary arrangements are also done for installing an idol of Goddess in a locality.

The colour yellow has a lot of significance on Basant Panchami, also known as Vasant Panchami, Shri Panchami and Saraswati Panchami, where Hindu devotees celebrate the day by wearing yellow outfits, worshipping goddess Saraswati and eating traditional dishes.
Kolkata, West Bengal: To celebrate Saraswati Puja on Thursday, a grand idol of Goddess Saraswati is kept at Tala Prattoy in Kolkata. The Bengali community will celebrate the Puja with cultural programmes, bhog and get-togethers.
Saraswati Puja in 2026 is on Sunday, the 18th of October (18/10/2026).
