मणिपुर में क्यों भड़की है हिंसा? Mary Kom Said my State is Burning. Mary Kom appealed to the state and center to work together, saying, "I ask the state and central governments to take steps and (to) maintain peace and security... this is my request." The boxer also urged all communities to live peacefully, saying, "I respect all people. Why can't all of us live in peace... this is my question. If we live in peace it will be better for all of us. Unfortunately, some people have lost family members in this violence."

Reason for Violance, मणिपुर में क्यों भड़की है हिंसा? मणिपुर में भीषण जातीय हिंसा, पलायन को मजबूर हुए लोग. ताजा हिंसा की दो प्रमुख वजहें हैं। एक है बहुसंख्यक मेइती समुदाय को अनुसूचित जनजाति का दर्जा देने का फैसला जिसका कुकी और नागा समुदाय विरोध कर रहे हैं। कुकी और नागा समुदाय को आजादी के बाद से ही आदिवासी का दर्जा मिला हुआ है। और दूसरी वजह है गवर्नमेंट लैंड सर्वे। बीजेपी की अगुआई वाली राज्य सरकार ने रिजर्व्ड फॉरेस्ट यानी आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र को आदिवासी ग्रामीणों से खाली कराने का अभियान चला रही है। कुकी समुदाय इसके विरोध में है।

मेइती को एसटी का दर्जा देने का मसला क्या है?

बहुसंख्यक मेइती समुदाय से जुड़े कुछ संगठन लंबे समय से अनुसूचित जनजाति का दर्जा देने की मांग कर रहे हैं। समुदाय से आने वाले कई विधायक भी खुलेआम इस मांग का समर्थन करते रहे हैं। मेइती समुदाय का कहना है कि बड़े पैमाने पर अवैध घुसपैठियों के आने की वजह से उन्हें समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। पिछले महीने मणिपुर हाई कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार को आदेश दिया कि वह 4 हफ्ते के भीतर मेइती समुदाय को एसटी का दर्जा देने की मांग पर केंद्र सरकार को अपनी सिफारिश भेजे। कुकी और नागा मेइती को एसटी का दर्जा दिए जाने का कड़ा विरोध कर रहे हैं।
