Ankushita Boro won the second gold for Assam

Former Asian Youth champion Ankushita Boro won the second gold for Assam in boxing after defeating Manipur's Alena Thounaojam in the final. Olympian Simranjit Kaur (Punjab) won gold with a clinical 4-0 victory in the women's lightweight final over Haryana's Jasmine Lamboria, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist.

Assam’s Ankushita Boro wins the women’s welterweight gold after a win via RSC (Referee stops the contest) against Manipur’s Alena Thounaojam at 63-66 kg welterweight category in the 36th National Games held at Gujarat.

At the Mahatma Mandir on Wednesday, Ankushita set up an exciting Northeastern derby with Manipur’s Alena Thounaojam in a battle of supremacy for the 66kg welterweight category and clinched the gold medal.
