The summer season in Guwahati, Assam lasts between June and Jul. The maximums touch 38°C and conditions usually get very hot during day time. However, nights are comparatively more relaxing and tourists venture out once the sun sets. The monsoon season usually lasts between the months of Jul and September.

According to the RMC, Assam's maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the highest in the last 33 years, was recorded in Guwahati. In June 1979, the state's major city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius.

The record temperature in Guwahati was 40.3 degrees Celsius on May 1, 1960. The last highest temperature was on August 5, 2020, when the city recorded a maximum of 38.6 degrees Celsius which was a 6-degree departure from the normal temperature.
The climate of Assam is typically 'Tropical Monsoon Rainforest Climate', with high levels of humidity and heavy rainfall. People here enjoy a moderate climate all throughout the year, with warm summers and mild winters.
