Halicharan Narzary is a professional Indian footballer, 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Narzary first started playing football in his village of Kokrajhar, Assam, where he represented his school team. After impressing in the school leagues, he was called to attend a trial at a SAI hostel nearby. Having made the cut there, he went on to represent Assam at the U-16 National Championships in Mahilpur. His talent was spotted by scouts at the tournament, and he earned a call up to the India U16 squad from where he graduated to the India U19 team. "When Hyderabad FC signed (Halicharan Narzary), we knew we got a very good player. We know about his qualities not only with his left foot but with his right foot too. He can play as a winger as well as an attacking midfielder. This is normally the reason why he plays in the national team"

Halicharan Narzary is a professional Indian footballer, born on 10 May 1994 in Kokrajhar, Assam. He is right footed and plays on the left wing in the midfield.  

Halicharan also has the ability to play as a right winger, cutting in on his left foot he is able to run in on defenders or beat them with pace and deliver some crucial crosses in the final third. 

He is versatile enough to play as a centre forward which makes him different from some of the other wingers of India. 

Halicharan is currently playing for NorthEast United and the Indian National Team.

Halicharan used to play football in his village, he played in his school team and impressed everyone with his subtle but immaculate skills. 

He was encouraged to try his luck at Sports Authority of India hostel, he took off to represent Assam at the U-16 National Championships in Mahilpur.  

Halicharan was scouted for India’s U-16 squad after his performances at the Championship tournament. 

He then progressed his way to the under-19 team giving him a golden chance to break into the senior team. 

2022 World Cup qualifiers: Coach Stimac calls up Halicharan Narzary

Indian football team coach Igor Stimac on Monday named his list of 35 probable's for the preparatory camp for the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Oman and Qatar.

The players will be assembling at the camp on August 19 in Goa, with practice kicking off from the next day.


India begins its campaign against Oman on September 5 in Guwahati followed by an away game against Asian champion Qatar in Doha on September 10. Afghanistan and Bangladesh are the other two teams in the group.


Winger Halicharan Narzary, who featured in every match of India’s 2019 AFC Asian Cup campaign, got a call-up for the camp, his first under Stimac.


Besides, three players from Indian Arrows’ batch of 2018-19 — Narender Gahlot, Anwar Ali (Jr) and Amarjit Singh also earned call-ups.
